From the Little River to Your Table: Our Story, Our Starters, Our Smile

Welcome to Little River Baking Company! We’re a mother-daughter cottage bakery based just steps from the beautiful Little River Park here in Gainesville, GA — a place that inspires everything we bake. Our name honors that special connection to home, family, and the simple joy of sharing fresh, homemade treats.

Baking has been part of our story long before Little River Baking Company was even an idea. Growing up in North Georgia, I inherited a love for homemade goodies — and more than a few flour fights along the way. My mom, a Registered Nurse with Italian roots and a serious passion for artisan sourdough, brought a bit of the San Francisco Bay Area into our kitchen, complete with time-honored bread-making traditions (and the occasional “oops” loaf that never made it past the cooling rack).

And speaking of starters, meet the real family members: Dough Baby, John Dough, and Jane Dough — our beloved sourdough starters who keep us on our toes and our ovens warm. They might be small, but they bring big flavor, plenty of science, and a whole lot of laughs to our baking days. (Yes, we name our starters like kids. Don’t judge.)

What makes our bakery truly special is that every batch is made small — really small — in our cozy cottage kitchen. That means fresh flavors, extra care, and the kind of attention that turns ordinary ingredients into something unforgettable. From cookies to brownies to our naturally leavened breads, we bake with love in every crumb (and occasionally a little too much flour on the floor).

A little about us: I’m the daughter who mixes creativity with a deep appreciation for community and tradition. My mom balances her nursing career with baking, ensuring our breads rise just right and our flavors stay true. Together, we blend heritage, heart, and a little humor to bring you baked goods that don’t just taste amazing — they tell a story.

Thanks for stopping by our little corner of the baking world. We’re excited to share this journey with you — one small batch, one big laugh, and one sourdough starter at a time.
